Working full time, going to school, planning a wedding, and just trying to keep up with the day-to-day needs of life is exhausting. Every now an then you have to allow yourself to escape inside your mind, and be free of the stress even if it's only for a few fleeting hours.
I'm an avid reader. There is just something magical about letting yourself become immersed in a story and letting your imagination run wild piecing it all together. When I was younger, I would stay up all night to finish a book because I so desperately wanted to know how it would end. As I've gotten older those moments have become more infrequent. Last night I was inspired to resurrect this old habit. I downloaded a series of three books that a friend had recommended and got to reading.
To say I lost myself in the story would be putting it lightly. I allowed myself to completely forget about what was happening in my life and focus only on the story in front of me. I needed that escape. I'm exhausted today, but I read two of the three books, and for now I feel less stressed.
Tomorrow will be a different story...
Hello. I can't believe I am able to post on your blog. Hope class is going well for you.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE reading also. I use to average 3 novels within 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteDid you read the girl with the dragon tatoo by any chance?
ReplyDeleteJust planning a wedding is stressfull itself.
ReplyDeleteWhat books did you download? I've been looking for something new to read :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading as well. I will not put a book down until I am done with it. I recently dabbled into the world of audio books which I didn't think I would like it but its just as addicting as reading straight from the book.
ReplyDeleteI have Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on my list to read, but I was reading the Shades of Grey series this weekend. I have also downloaded The Hunger Games to see what the hype is all about.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I definitely need to do more is read something that isn't related to my amibition; but to it for 100% leisure
ReplyDeleteNever seems like there are enough hours in the day. It is hard to imagine what my life was like 10 years ago- the middle of high school and really not a care in the world.
ReplyDeletei miss reading for fun instead of having to for homework
